If you do command like ls -ltr It will show all the files with its metadata like permissions, owner, file size, name etc. It will show the list of files in the current directory. If you want to save the data type the command ‘:wq’ or ‘:wq!' After adding the data, If you want to quit without saving, Type ‘:q’ or ‘:q!' command. After doing ‘ vi filename.txt ‘, you need to press ‘i’ to go into the insert mode to add data. This command will open the file if the file is already in the current location, otherwise create a new file with the provided name. VI – It is a default editor which stands for Visual Editor.So, It will show your current working directory location.
